Adoption is a loving choice for clients who know that this is not the right time for them to parent their child. The Lennon Center can assist with a birthmother’s needs and refer her to an adoption attorney if she decides to make an adoption plan for her baby. Birthmothers have so many choices today in regard to adoption. The Lennon Center has an adoption board that includes photos and biographical information regarding several couples. The Lennon Center works directly with an adoption attorney that can meet all of the birthmother’s needs. Birthmothers can make a confidential adoption plan or a semi-open plan for their baby. Confidential adoption plan- In a confidential adoption plan the birth family can select a couple from several detailed profiles that the adoption attorney has on hand. The birth family can also request that the adoption attorney select a family. No meetings between the birth family and prospective adoptive couples would take place. Non identifying information can be shared such as medical history through the adoption attorney. Semi-open adoption plan- In a semi-open adoption the birth family can select a couple from several profiles that the adoption attorney has on hand. A meeting can be arranged so that the birth family and the prospective adoptive couple may meet. If it is the desire of the birthmother, she may have the prospective adoptive parents accompany her to doctor’s visits and they may also be invited to the hospital. Non identifying information can be shared.
